What worries or doubts do people often have about square dancing, and how do you usually reassure them?

I have never been a dancer, will I stand out? 


Many people say, "I have never danced, I can't do this." Our program is designed so that the dance actions (calls) naturally fit together, allowing the dance to build organically. You'll be surprised how quickly you pick it up!

We dance with others so you have other people to help always! 

How do I learn to square dance?
We offer beginner-friendly sessions designed to teach you all the basic calls and movements. Check our "Learn to Square Dance" page for more information on upcoming classes and workshops.

What are the most common questions people ask about square dancing or your club, Mississippi Squares?

Are there any special clothing required? 


You don't need to wear costumes! Casual clothes and comfortable shoes are perfectly fine. While some dancers choose to wear traditional square dance attire, Mississippi Squares wants you to be comfortable and simply enjoy the activity.

I don’t have a partner, can I still join.

Yes! Everyone is welcome. Square Dance is for everyone. We have many singles that have danced for years. This a safe inclusive environment.
